BASILICA BACK GALLERY ARTIST IN RESIDENCE SERIES: DANIEL MCCABE

Basilica Hudson will present an exhibition of new photographic works by Daniel McCabe as part of our Hudson as Muse Basilica Back Gallery Artist in Residence Series. The images will meditate on man’s interaction with his environment – in McCabe’s case, the Hudson River Valley.

Daniel McCabe’s film and photography projects meditate on history and aim to contextualize the realities and conditions of contemporary life through the use of still photography and filmmaking. A Hudson Valley native, McCabe attributes a lifelong connection to the region and its landscape to the development of his aesthetic. He has proposed a body of large scale photographic work inspired by the works of the Hudson River School movement, accompanied by a series of public programs. The photographs will explore the natural beauty of the Hudson River Valley and examine man’s interaction with the environment while paying tribute the area’s history and culture. The images will be presented in large format, the final size being roughly H 60” x W 80-120”.

Daniel McCabe is a New York based filmmaker and photographer. His journalistic work has appeared in National Geographic, The New York Times, BCC and more.
